Romanticism is everywhere in fashion and beauty this spring, and hairstyles that complement clothing and makeup have followed suit. A look at the spring campaigns of major brands offers a clear picture of the season’s hair trends. Cuts and natural waves stand out. For a fresh, sophisticated look, try an asymmetrical cut. For this spring’s “it hair,” choose loose, natural waves.

◇ Dynamic Cuts
“Dynamic” is the keyword for cuts. Three distinctly different styles have emerged as hair trends.

They are asymmetrical cuts that look different from the front, back and sides; bold, powerful cuts with straight lines; and layered bob cuts.

Aveda’s asymmetrical cut exudes sophistication, although its striking style may feel too daring for some.

A bold cut with a straight line is worth trying. Kim Hye-soo wears the look beautifully in the music video for Park Jin-young’s “The House You Live In.”

The layered bob cuts worn by Lee Hyo-ri and Kim Jung-eun are likely to appeal to many women. The bob shows that a short cut can also look feminine and soft.

A major concern is that short hair may be harder to style.

“Loose, natural curls are standing out,” said Jang Jin-hee, director of LA La Beauté Core. “Curls that look as though the hair was towel-dried after shampooing and then lightly blow-dried will be popular for some time.”

As 1970s-inspired hippie fashion also leads the trends, almost undone, tousled waves are expected to gain popularity.

For long, wavy hair, dry the roots after shampooing and apply an essence to the ends. To bring out soft, natural waves, apply Aveda’s Phomollient mousse.
