Film Permit Fees to Increase

Application fees for film and TV shoot permits in LA County will increase. The LA County Board of Supervisors approved the proposal yesterday. The LA County Fire Department had previously told the board that permit application fees for film, TV and commercial shoots needed to more than double to cover a $1.3 million budget for its public safety and film units. Under the approved proposal, current fees ranging from $40 to $125, including filming vehicle and inspection fees, will rise to between $223 and $288 starting next January. The Fire Department will also introduce less restrictive rules for supervising filming locations. Last year, the department approved approximately 4,000 filming permits.
